Community Event: Basket Weaving

This holiday season give a gift of hand-made craft to your loved one! Spend the weekend crafting a beautiful pack basket with alumni parent and expert weaver Penny Hewitt.  Penny uses basketry to foster connections between people, the earth, and our ancestors. You can check out some of Penny's work on her website, https://lazymillhillfarm.com/lazy-mill-treecraft/. In this introduction to ash basketry, we will learn the artistry and history present in this amazing and ancient craft while we transform trees into durable, beautiful baskets!

Participants this weekend will have access to weather-appropriate lodging at Kroka basecamp and have the opportunity to be involved with farm chores both Saturday and Sunday morning. You may also find other accommodations in the local area. After registering online, please email rebecca.walton@kroka.org if you intend to stay on-campus for the weekend. Meals will be served potluck style and coordinated after registration is complete.

Cost: $180, $200, $220 including all materials for your own pack basket!

Community programs are priced at three different tiers. Please assess what your family can pay and choose the appropriate tier. Thank you for your support!
